These pictures that I have taken that were inspired by Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald are here to represent color and passion. Both of these artists are African American and they use their art to inspire, motivate, and inform people. Amy Sheralds artwork is very cohesive and shows black women in a positive light. Black people's art is usually not in the forefront and Amy Sherald made it her duty to let black people be seen in all of our beauty. Her Michelle Obama portrait was excellently crafted and created and has inspired me when I have coming up with ideas for my own selfie. Kehinde Wiley used beautiful floral print in her portraits and it so much color and gave her paintings so much life and I wanted to include that into my portrait as well.  Representation in art and media is very important especially for our children. Children need to see themselves in paintings and media because it gives them hope and it shows that they are not forgotten and that they are capable of success. Growing up I rarely had representation in the media and it made me feel like I could not be successful because of my skin color, on every television show I saw an all-white cast with a ghetto black friend. Everyone deserves to see themselves in a spotlight to show that they are important and able to be in power/control.
