Lesly's Flag

This flas is personal to me because I am a daughter from an immigrant family. I have drawb a cage in top of the American flag witha hand holding on. I have drawn it to explain how although, we live in America, Immigrants dont face the same hardships as everyone else. I've seen countless images of children being seperated fromtheir families and being held in detention centers. In America, you are confined to this life of constant fear of being sperated from your family. The meaning behind my flag, is to speak out on Immigration. To inform others about families that are being separated by Trump's no zero Tolerance policy. As I wrote on my flag "NO HUMAN IS ILLEGAL" all I could think about are the thousands of chidren that have been seperated by their families and have to rely on agents and the prisons for comfort. I connected it to Dahlia's work as in one of her articles she explains in her art the written word comes first. I had written the text on my flag and connected it with the world my family and I live in. How we live in America but, we aren't seen as Americans.

  1. I truly thought it is a very powerful flag. As a child of immigrant parents, I can relate and feel "the language" expressed in this flag. Great job!
